Earth received an alien 'wow' signal in 1977

The source will surprise you

Nearly half a century ago, at about 11:16 pm on August 15, 1977, a strange signal was picked up by a radio telescope that lasted merely 1 minute and 12 seconds. The radio signal was received by the Big Ear radio telescope, 45 years later it remains the biggest candidate for a potential extraterrestrial origin

Now, researchers have identified the likely source of this radio signal that was dubbed the "wow" signal to a sun-like star in the constellation Sagittarius nearly 1800 light-years away from Earth.

The research published in the International Journal of Astrobiology states that a total of 66 G and K-type stars were sampled to find out the source of the alien signal, but only one of them is identified as a potential Sun-like star considering the available information.
